Tribe Called T.E.C.H.

Tribe Called T.E.C.H. (Technology, Entrepreneurship, Culture, Heritage) is the ultimate ERG
uniting the tech ecosystem across the African diaspora to learn, link up, and leverage relationships for long term career success. Tribe Called T.E.C.H. strips away corporate politics to get to the truth about failed diversity & inclusion programs that were never setup for success. By centering the “Black” experience in the tech field, not just “People of Color” or “Women”, terms that have been commonly used to obfuscate the intent and hide the data pertaining to the dismal hiring and retention rates of Black tech professionals, and the funding rates of Black startup founders.
Tribe Called T.E.C.H. supports all stages of personal and professional development by working to increase access to knowledge and resources that amplify the hiring, promotion, and retention rates of the career-minded individuals while working to get more entrepreneurs connected to funding sources that share in culture and heritage. Tribe Called T.E.C.H. is the perfect blend of HR & PR without sacrificing measurable impact in exchange for favorable promotions; which are the common trappings of many corporate D.I.E. programs.Tribe Called T.E.C.H. programs and events fuel a funnel of individuals in two (2) categories: technology professionals and business founders. The difference between the groups is that one is seeking careers in established companies and the other is seeking the network to start their own company. However, both are important to a healthy Black tech ecosystem. By fostering this healthy and vibrant community, we strengthen the intimate bonds that drive positive network effects back into the Tribe Called T.E.C.H. network. This program exists to drive the one “ism”--- nepotism --- that doesn’t hurt communities of African descent like racism, sexism, ableism, ageism, and other “isms”.

Technology

Technology is at the core of what we do at Tribe Called T.E.C.H. because it empowers our community to innovate, collaborate, and excel on a global scale. From software development and data analytics to AI and emerging fields yet to be named, we see technology as both a tool for advancement and a platform for amplifying Black voices. It’s about more than learning to code—it’s about unlocking new ways of thinking and creating. We believe that when people of African descent are equipped with the latest digital skills, they don’t just enter the tech industry—they transform it. By focusing on technology, we aim to bridge digital divides, foster innovation, and ultimately shift the paradigm of who gets to lead in tech. Every line of code, every algorithm, and every platform built by our Tribe contributes to a legacy of digital excellence that reflects our collective brilliance and resilience.

We Are Ecosystem Builders

Ecosystem builders are the connectors and catalysts within a community, weaving together people, resources, and opportunities to create vibrant networks where everyone can thrive. They look beyond individual success and focus on how relationships, knowledge-sharing, and collaboration can spark collective growth. Instead of operating in silos, ecosystem builders see the bigger picture; understanding that when one part of a community advances, it creates a ripple effect that benefits the entire system. At Tribe Called T.E.C.H., we embrace this mindset every day. We unite the tech ecosystem across the African diaspora to learn, link up, and leverage relationships for long-term success; whether that means landing a dream job at a leading tech company or securing the capital to launch a startup. We connect aspiring tech talent with seasoned professionals, foster authentic mentorship networks, and work alongside hiring partners and recruiters who are committed to inclusivity and genuine impact regardless of a company sponsored program.
